Tradovate trade copier: how to copy trades across Tradovate accounts
Does Tradovate have a trade copier? Partly. Tradovate's built-in Group Trade sends one order to several accounts from the same provider, with a quantity you set for each account. It can't group accounts at different prop firms, and it doesn't copy fills. To trade once and have followers at several firms mirror your leader account's fills, you need a cloud trade copier such as TradeLink, which connects to Tradovate for $40/month.

How Tradovate Group Trade works
Tradovate's help article describes Group Trade as a way to place one order across a group of accounts:
- Create groups from the account dropdown in the Tradovate web or desktop app with Manage Groups. The option only appears when your login has more than one account.
- Set a quantity per account. The first account you add becomes the group's lead account.
- Order sizes must be multiples of the group total. With three accounts set to 1 contract each, you can only send orders in multiples of 3.
- Same provider only. Accounts from the same prop firm provider can be grouped. You can't combine, for example, a Tradovate brokerage account with a prop firm evaluation account.
- Other limits: ATM strategies are disabled for groups of more than five accounts, very large group orders can hit API rate limits, and Group Trade isn't available in the mobile app.
For one firm's accounts under one login, Group Trade is often enough, and it's built in. The trouble starts when you trade evaluations or funded accounts at several prop firms, which each give you a separate Tradovate login.
Group Trade vs a cloud trade copier
| Question | Tradovate Group Trade | TradeLink (cloud copier) |
|---|---|---|
| Accounts at different prop firms | No, same provider only | Yes: connect each Tradovate login |
| What drives follower orders | One order split across the group | The leader account's fills, including partial fills |
| Sizing | Fixed quantity per account; orders in multiples of the group total | Per follower: 1:1, multiplier or fixed quantity |

| Where it runs | Inside the Tradovate web or desktop app | Server-side; your browser can be closed |
| Live and demo accounts | Grouping depends on provider | Live and paper Tradovate accounts can be connected |
| Cost | Included in the Tradovate app | $40/month, up to 150 accounts |
How to copy trade on Tradovate with TradeLink
- Check each prop firm's rules. Make sure copy trading is allowed on every account and plan you'll use. Rules vary by firm and change over time.
- Subscribe and sign in. TradeLink is $40/month. If you're leaving another paid copier, your first month is free with proof of cancellation.
- Connect your Tradovate logins on the Connections page by signing in with Tradovate. Add one login per prop firm or brokerage.
- Create a group. Pick the leader account that originates trades, then add follower accounts.
- Set sizing per follower. For example, copy 1:1 into a 50K evaluation and use a fixed 1 contract on a smaller funded account.
- Add risk rules such as daily loss or profit limits for each follower or the whole group.
- Go live and test small. Arm the group, place a one-contract trade on the leader, and check each follower's fill in Tradovate.

What TradeLink doesn't do (yet)
TradeLink connects through Tradovate. Rithmic is coming soon, not live. If any account you need to copy runs on Rithmic or another non-Tradovate connection, TradeLink can't copy it today. Copied orders also aren't guaranteed to match: margin limits, rejected orders, disconnections, liquidity and slippage can all make followers differ from the leader. Check your accounts after you trade.
Frequently asked questions
Does Tradovate have a trade copier?
Tradovate has a built-in feature called Group Trade. It sends one order to a group of accounts from the same provider, with a set quantity per account. It isn't a fill-based copier and can't group accounts from different providers, such as two different prop firms. For that you need a third-party trade copier.
Can you copy trade between two prop firms on Tradovate?
Not with Group Trade, which only groups accounts from the same provider. A cloud trade copier such as TradeLink connects each Tradovate login separately and copies the leader account's fills into followers at other firms, if each firm's rules allow copying.
How much does a Tradovate trade copier cost?
Group Trade is part of the Tradovate web and desktop apps. TradeLink costs $40/month for unlimited Tradovate connections and up to 150 accounts. Other third-party copiers usually price by connections or accounts.
Do I need to keep my browser or a VPS running?
Not with TradeLink. It copies server-side, so the web app is only for setup and monitoring. Group Trade is used from inside the Tradovate web or desktop app while you place the order.
Can I use different contract sizes on each follower?
Yes. In TradeLink each follower can copy 1:1, use a multiplier or use a fixed quantity, so an evaluation and a funded account don't have to size alike.
Trade once. Fill up to 150 Tradovate accounts.
