Apex Tradovate trade copying: what works and what must you check?
Short answer: Apex publishes a built-in Tradovate Group Trade workflow for eligible Apex Tradovate accounts. Its current user agreement permits a narrowly defined form of manually initiated copying between the same owner's accounts, while separate legacy PA guidance is more restrictive. Confirm your exact Apex contract and program before using TradeLink or any third-party copier.

First: Apex Tradovate Group Trade is a built-in option
Apex's official Tradovate Group Copier article explains a native grouping feature available to users with more than one active Apex Tradovate account. In Tradovate, the user switches to simulation mode, opens the account selector, chooses Manage Groups, creates a group and assigns accounts and quantities.
For a trader running eligible accounts on one relevant provider connection, that may solve the basic multi-account problem without a separate copier subscription. However, Apex's guide warns that the native Tradovate Group Trade feature has restrictions, including limitations on bracket orders and use from TradingView. The group works according to Tradovate's own feature rules rather than those of third-party software.
What Apex's current agreement says about automated copying
The current Apex user agreement emphasizes manual decision-making. It describes a specific exception where the same trader manually submits each originating order while a copier replicates the trades to other accounts that trader owns and controls. The originating order must not come from an automated bot or preprogrammed system, and the agreement says followers must mirror it rather than implement their own automated changes.
That does not mean every product setting is approved. A copier that transforms contracts, changes timing, applies separate trading logic or copies from someone else's accounts may not fit the stated exception. Read the complete agreement and ask Apex to clarify your precise group setup if there is uncertainty.
Watch for legacy Performance Account rules
Apex has separate published Legacy Performance Account (PA) Compliance documentation that includes much stricter language about external trade mirrors and third-party account management. Some of those statements conflict in tone or apparent scope with the current user agreement's narrow copying exception. We cannot resolve which terms govern your account from the account's trading platform alone.
If you use a legacy PA, obtain the relevant contract and a written answer from Apex before running a third-party copier. A marketing page should never substitute for a funded-account compliance decision. This is especially important when a rule violation can affect payouts or account status.
Account limits versus software capacity
Apex's account-limit documentation says that up to 20 active Performance Accounts may be held across the covered household, people, companies and connections, with additional restrictions. Evaluation-account rules are different. This is an Apex policy, not a technology constraint.
| Question | Where the rule comes from | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Can I own 150 Apex PAs? | Apex account policy, not TradeLink software | Follow Apex's documented PA account limits. |
| Can I mirror manually placed orders? | Account-specific Apex agreement | Confirm the current agreement and whether legacy PA terms apply. |
| Can I use Rithmic through TradeLink? | TradeLink connectivity | No; TradeLink publicly lists Tradovate and describes Rithmic as coming soon. |
| Will every follower fill identically? | Markets, margin and order processing | No; monitor every broker-side account and risk limit. |
How a Tradovate-first external copier differs
TradeLink advertises a server-side workflow where a user's Tradovate leader account routes follower orders to up to 150 accounts that are connected through supported Tradovate logins. Features advertised include copy groups, quantity sizing, account monitoring and risk controls. Those software characteristics are not an endorsement by Apex and do not grant permission to use the tool under any Apex agreement.
Apex's native Group Trade and external cloud copying solve different operational problems. Consider whether you need accounts across supported logins, how you handle order rejection or partial fills, and whether risk settings are compatible with your Apex agreement. Only connect accounts and trade after confirming firm eligibility.
A safer checklist for Apex copy traders
- Identify whether each account is an evaluation, a current PA, a legacy PA or a live funded account.
- Read the terms linked to that account, not only a general firm help article.
- Verify each account uses Tradovate and is personally owned and controlled by you.
- Make the originating trade manually where the policy requires it; avoid unsupported bot-originating trades.
- Test copying in an authorized environment and compare broker-side quantities and fills.
- Watch for margin limits, daily loss thresholds, opposite positions, bracket restrictions and disconnections.

Frequently asked questions
Does Apex offer its own Tradovate trade copier?
Apex publishes instructions for Tradovate's built-in Group Trade feature on eligible Apex Tradovate accounts. Its capabilities and limitations differ from third-party copier software.
Can I copy other people's Apex accounts?
Do not do so. Apex's current agreement narrowly describes copying between accounts solely owned and controlled by the same user, not third-party accounts.
Does Apex allow every automated copier on legacy PAs?
No blanket approval should be inferred. Apex's legacy Performance Account documentation contains restrictive language regarding trade mirroring. Consult the specific applicable contract.
Does TradeLink support Apex Rithmic accounts?
No current Rithmic connection is advertised by TradeLink. Its published connection is Tradovate, while Rithmic is described as coming soon.
Does your account setup fit TradeLink?
TradeLink currently connects through Tradovate. The advertised plan is $40/month for up to 150 accounts and unlimited supported connections. Verify your firm's current policies and each account's connection before subscribing.
